Letters
Zwolle
Assigned by our client Merin, we have designed a new appearance for an existing, somewhat anonymous building located in Zwolle at the Aagje Dekenstraat. Our intention was to create a strong and surprising identity for this building, with limited resources.
The new, striking look of the ‘Letters’ building is established by the notable materials: metallic, brass colored corrugated panels.
We transformed the existing modular construction into a calm, clear and coherent whole, by adding a brand-new façade with horizontal lines and rounded edges. The deviant shape of the canopies, entrances and extension on the ground floor, provide the opportunity to use the soft lines of the corners in other parts of the building.
writers district
The property at the Aagje Dekenstraat is part of Zwolle’s ‘schrijversbuurt’ (literally: writers district). The design of the atmospheric public space is inspired by this district: the interior concept ‘library’ refers to the historic writers.
working
The public space features a meeting room, an open pantry with good coffee and several informal seating areas that are separated by open bookcases.
signage
This elegant concept is also used for the design of the logo and signage, which ensures unity and recognisability of the new identity of the building.
