Ibis budget

Amsterdam

On behalf of Borealis Hotel Group, Mulderblauw transformed an office building, located at the border of Amstelveen, into a hotel.

ibis budget flagship

The fourteen-storey building is the flagship for the new design direction of the hotel brand “ibis budget”. In this construction, Mulderblauw created no less than 314 hotel rooms and designed the public spaces according to the new brand standards.

Conveniently located near the business park Zuidas and Rai Exhibition Centre, this hotel is an ideal stay for both business travellers and recreational visitors of Amsterdam.

cozy and comfortable

bunk bed for 5

On the fourteenth floor, the construction has a deviating, round, double-height space, in which a unique room has been realized. In this room, we designed a bunk bed of five that spirals upward.

Each sleeping area offers an impressive view over Amstelveen and a part of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The artwork of graffiti artist Eelco van den Berg contributes to the unique and contemporary look of this room.

the new standard

The public spaces are mainly designed according to the new brand standards of ibis budget. In collaboration with Accor we have expanded this design with new graphics and an exclusive game room in the heart of the building.

game on!

The game room has old school arcade machines, a table for table tennis, an eight-person foosball table and neon lights that enhance the fun feeling of the space.

The addition of a game room was received very well by Accor, it has raised the question if a similar room should be designed in future ibis budget hotels.
