Service Course Team Jumbo-Visma

Team Jumbo-Visma is a Dutch sports team specialized in cycling and speed skating. On an international level the team achieved many successes; it’s an established name in the field. For the cycling department of the team, Somerset Capital Partners is developing a new home base and commissioned us for the design.

The entrance is situated on the corner of the building. You enter in the lively reception area, which is also very suitable to welcome bigger groups. As soon as you arrive in the building, you’re immersed in the dynamic cycling-world of Team Jumbo-Visma: displays of inspiring sports photo’s, one-of-a-kind sport shirts and numerous prizes. But it is a peek into the world of the mechanics that makes the experience extraordinary!

The workplace of the mechanics is also visible from the offices and meeting rooms. This creates a strong connection with the craftsmanship, no matter where you are. The offices are located on the first floor, accessible through large stairs that also function as a tribune.

The facade of the building consists of vertical aluminum cassettes, to create visual depth. The concept of the design is inspired by the ‘wagon-wheel effect’. This characteristic effect can be seen in older cycling footage. It comes about when cycling at a certain speed; it looks like the spokes of the wheel are going backwards instead of forward.
