Almere
This distribution centre forms part of an ambitious urban plan for a high-quality business park in Almere. We enthusiastically embraced the challenge of making a fitting design with limited resources in a short construction time.
subtle in its surroundings
The result is a striking distribution centre of over 19,000 m2 that harmonises with the vast expanse of the polder. The façades consist of horizontal panelling in three shades of grey. The narrow colour strips create an exciting appearance and give the building a unique character. The dark, recessed plinth makes the lighter volume seem to float above ground level and gathers all building entrances into a coherent set.
All components are prefabricated and completely removable, reducing both building material and construction waste to a minimum. Completion was reached within a year of the issuing of the building permit.
